The Southern Africa Trade Union Coordination Council (SATUCC) announces the 2018 Annual Labour Symposium under the theme “Trade Union Strategies in Promoting Industrialization for Decent Work in SADC Region” to be held in Gaborone, Botswana from 10-12 May 2018.
This is a follow up activity to the 10th SATUCC Delegates Congress held on 27th October 2017 in Dar-es-salaam which adopted a Resolution on a New Path of Democratic Development, Industrialization and Job creation in the SADC region.
The 2018 Labour Symposium also intends to discuss the agenda items on the 107th International Labour Conference (ILC) to be held in May-June 2018 in Geneva and formulate trade union positions on the agenda.
The Labour Symposium annually brings together SATUCC and affiliate leadership, GUF’s co-ordinators, union researchers and educators, and selected academia to a common platform to discuss important thematic issues of relevance to trade union struggles and regional integration in SADC.
It provides a platform for SATUCC and affiliates to prepare for the SADC Ministers and Social Partners Meetings, the International Labour Conference and other relevant fora.
